M-oxy™ Process

AFP has developed M-oxy™, a unique molybdenum recovery process.  M-oxy™ separates molybdenum from wastes and ore concentrates as a high-purity, molybdic oxide powder that is especially suitable for use within the steel industry.

The M-oxy™ process can produce molybdic oxide powders that meet ASTM A 146-04 Grade A.

Spent catalyst and K171/K172:

AFP's M-oxy™ process can extract molybdic oxide from spent molybdenum containing catalysts.  These spent catalysts include hydrotreating (EPA waste code K171) and hydrorefining catalysts (EPA waste code K172).

The byproduct from treating spent catalyst with the the M-oxy™ process is the catalyst's oxide substrate—free of carbon and sulfur.

Molybdenum Ore Concentrate (MoS2):

AFP's M-oxy™ process can be adapted for the processing of molybdenum ore concentrate.  Tailings from the M-oxy™ process are free of carbon and sulfur.
